Although typically I write indie rock songs, I enjoy listening to many genres including classical musical. As I thought about my friends in Ukraine living through Russia’s war of aggression, I developed this short classical piece, much of which was written during my travels in Ukraine in 2023-24.

It is scored for violin, viola and two cellos, and progresses from a mournful initial theme toward what I hope is an optimism for the future.
